Blockchain technology is revolutionizing how we manage online identity. Decentralized identity systems use blockchain to ensure that users’ Verifiable Credentials can be verified anywhere, anytime..
How? 👇
A VC contains an encrypted digital fingerprint of all the data in the document at the issuance time. Important: VCs are stored on the users' identity wallets, NOT on the blockchain.
The Issuer of the Credential places a key on a blockchain to decrypt the fingerprint.
Now a Verify wants to check if the user's VC is authentic.
Using Dock's platform, the Verifier automatically checks the blockchain to find the Issuer's key and unlock the fingerprint in the Verifiable Credential.
Instant Document Verification: If the unique fingerprint created at the moment of issuance matches the document the Verifier just received, it means that the document wasn't modified and it's authentic ✅
