What Is a Verifiable Credential?
📜 VCs are digital cryptographically secure and privacy-preserving versions of documents and credentials that people can present to organizations for verification.
💼Verifiable Credentials are one of the three pillars of Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI), an approach to digital identity that gives individuals control of their digital identities. The other two pillars are blockchain and decentralized identifiers (DIDs).
The main parties involved in the use of Verifiable Credentials are:
🔑The Issuer: has the authority to issue credentials
🔒The Holder: stores the credential in their digital wallet
🌐The Verifier. - validates or authenticates the credential.
